Day 3

Hmmmm, well that seems to have been a record - i'm already losing it :-(  my meals are now too small and because i'm now on a training schedule I don't want to do that either.  It's like signing up for the gym all over again, you go for months on end and then as soon as you sign up for a cheaper deal, you stop going!!!!  However I shall not be defeated so early on, she says loudly and repeatedly.

I was scheduled to go for a 6K run today, but as mr bad attitude was visiting I decided to sulk instead, which was obviously a much more productive use of my time!!!!  So after having stern words with myself I decided to compromise and try out my new skipping rope instead........and there goes my first lesson in compromises - it was horrendous!!!  I didn't manage to do it for very long becasue my skipping rope is lighter than an anorexic grass snake, so kept twisting up and being very annoying.  So after my failed mini skipping workout, I decided to give Michelle (my DVD lady) another go - that lady hurts me :-(

My food was again delicious........but i'm starting to need my usual giganta portions.  Starting to struggle now that my initial enthusiasm (that lasted all of 2 days) is beginning to wane.

On a more positive note, the idea that i've had for my fundraising are hopefully starting to come into fruition.  My aim is to organize; a sports day, a massage day and a rounders tournament.  But as time is definiately not on my side and the other trials and tribulations of life aren't going to stop for the next 12 weeks, it's not going to be an easy task.  I have a venue for the massage and I have managed to rope in another 3 unsuspecting victims (oops, I mean volunteers), so a good start so far....now just waiting to hear back about a potential date.

Day 2

Well i'm sure I thought this would ever happen, but I put exercize before food - I managed to do my exercize DVD before breakfast!!! It's one I got a while ago (a previous occasion filled with good intention!) which is based on 10minute sessions, so you don't have the excuse of not having the time to exercize......so while I wasn't due for a run, I thought i'd blow the dust off the box and give it a go.  All-in-all it was pretty enjoyable, Michelle (the DVD lady) was very encouraging but like superwoman fit, who can exercize AND talk at the same time, without breaking a sweat.  I, on the other hand was soaked in sweat with burning muscles and looked like i'd just returned from a trek across the Sahara - it's all about baby steps, Michelle's uber tight abs will one day be mine!!

And so to my 3 course breakfast - very delicious, very healthy and very never ending.  So far, all my food has been delicious, filling and i've also been free from any cupboard raiding urges......if you don't count my desperate need for wine gums!!

Early days still, but my chin is up, my belly is full and my training still on target :-)

Day 1

How my challenge came about......
I took part in the 5K race 4 life events for the past 2 years to raise money for Cancer Research UK, it's a cause close to my heart and wanted to do my bit for the charity.  However after having seen how much pain cancer causes, my only criteria for finishing the races was that I had to run the full distance without stopping, no matter how slow.  After having the initial bug for both fundraising and running I stepped it up to the 10K races and thought if I did the full series of 3 races I could ask for more money off people.  However that bug keeps growing and now i'm signed up for a half-marathon, which is a massive step as it's double the distance and it also has a minimum raise of £400 for the charity. So this summer, i'm hopefully going to complete my half-marathon (without stopping) raise upwards of £700 (including the sponsors from the 10k races) and hopefully take off some weight while i'm at it, to try and make it a little easier on myself!!

 (that's me in the Hull 10K....the worn out mess nearest the camera!!)

Previous races;
Race 4 Life 5K 2009 (Bradford) ~35minutes
Race 4 Life 5K 2010 (Hull) ~ 33minutes
Jane Tomlinson 10K 2011 (Hull) 1.05.50
Jane Tomlinson 10K 2011 (Leeds) 1.08.54

Training for half-marathon (following Nike training program);
3.02K (18.57 minutes)

Starting weight;
13st 13lb (following Tesco Diets)

Money needed to raise;
£400 (by 18th Sep '11)

So the journey begins, although not an ideal start with a very 'sociable' weekend and no food in the cupboards.  However I am determined to do a good job of this task, so out comes the credit card and off to the shop I went.  With newly stocked cupboards and my daily diet plan to hand....off we go.

After an afternoon nap and a mini heatwave, the last thing I wanted to do was go and exersize or eat another ryvita....but needs must! So on went my trainers and down went the ryvita.  On my return, from what could only be described as more of a 'stop and breathe' than a 'run', I was red, sweaty and on the verge of what felt like death.  But after a lovely shower and a delicious omelette for tea I was ready to take 'the bull by the horns'!!
